Hello and welcome to my site!
We are situated between Bath and Bristol.
I have kept piggies for 12 years and have been breeding for over 2 years. I've read may different books about breeding guinea pigs, but found the best way for me to breed my piggies is my way, with big gaps between litters and all sows together to help with the babies. Breeding Guinea pigs are not something you make money out of and I breed for the pure pleasure it brings me to see every new litter. I believe in keeping my piggies to the best health they can get to and allowing them the most natural environment possible.
Along with my guinea pigs, I keep a small number of chickens and Rocky the rooster (yes he is nosiey but well worth it!).
This year I let my broodies sit; the constant pecking and being hissed at was well worth enduring when I saw the little bundles of fluff running around after mum. Rocky proved that he doesn't just protect his hens from the neighbourhood cats (let's hope he doesn't meet a dog as they might not run away!) and keep the peace in the flock, he also showed us that he has a 100% fertility rate and is a great father.
Along with my herd of piggies and flock of chickens I have Meme the rabbit, she was found wandering the roads by us. When she came she was the living death but now she's a picture of health and been a member of the family for 5 years. My last 2 pets are the fish, Dory and Bronze. Bronze was won at a fair ground and now approaching the grand old age of 10! Bronze has lived through many friends but Dory's stuck it out for 5 years.
